Manual for MK-8000A Sega Saturn
If you're looking for a copy of the Sega Saturn MK-800A user manual, just click on the link in the story header to download the manual in PDF format that you can print out or just view on the computer if you wish. Special thanks to William B. Nessanbaum for providing the historical document.
Sega-Saturn.com is Back!
I've gotten enough emails over the course of the past few years to realize that it was a mistake shutting down the site, so thanks to a
little insomnia it's back up again! I don't have any plans for updates, except for potential clean-up work if I'm ever ridiculously bored, but it's
here for historical reference and nostalgia for fans of the Sega-Saturn.
A Few More Saturn Games Going Bye Bye
I've gone through my collection and have found another
8 games for the Sega Saturn that I am willing to part with that you may be interested in picking up. The games included in this lot are:
Worldwide Soccer '98, Worldwide Soccer, World Series Baseball II, Street Fighter Alpha, World Series Baseball '98, X-Men: Children of the Atom,
Die Hard Arcade and NBA Action '98. All eight are excellent games for the system and would make perfect additions to your classic Sega Saturn
You can also check out all of my other eBay auctions to get a chance to win auctions for
PlayStation games, a 32X system, and plenty of other videogames, systems and random merchandise. Good luck and bid away!

No More Emails
Since I don't have the time to check email regularly, I've decided to shut down all email accounts associated with this domain since it receives a few thousands pieces of junk per every real email that's sent to it.
That means no more new links, reader reviews or anything. I may setup a new message board in the future to deal with
people trying to get in touch with me with regard to this site, but don't hold your breath waiting for it. Just think
of this site as an archive and a Sega Saturn resource and nothing more from now on.
By the way, I apologize to any of you that have emailed at any time over the course of the last five to six months and have not received a response. In deleting thousands of junk emails, some good ones are sure to get deleted on accident.
My Sega Saturn Top 5
I was feeling a little bored and figured I should go ahead and
update the website since I hadn't done it since early February. And since there's
not really anything new to report and I'm not ready to write any new reviews,
I figured I could put together a little update with my all-time top five US and
Japanese released titles for the Saturn.
My Favorite 5 US Releases
1. Panzer Dragoon Saga
2. Dragon Force
3. Guardian Heroes
4. Virtua Fighter 2
5. Galactic Attack
My Favorite 5 Import-only Releases
1. Radiant Silvergun
5. Shining Force III Scenarios 2 & 3
By no means am I saying that these are the best five games released on the system in either the US or Japan. These are just the ones that I think the most highly of at the moment. If you're looking to get some games for your system and don't currently own any of these 10, you ought to consider picking any of them up.
Review: Panzer Dragoon Zwei
It turns out that the other three reviews that I had planned on
posting were way too short, so there's just a single new reader
review for you guys today and for the foreseeable future.
Just keep in mind that if you're submitting a review that I want
it to be much more than just a single paragraph. I understand that
there are a lot of small reviews already on the site, but I'm wanting
a bit more these days. I do appreciate and thank you for the support,
Review: Virtual Hydlide
I actually have about four or five other reviews to post, but don't
have the time to slap them into the templates, so you'll only get
one for today. Hopefully I can get the others up this weekend, but
don't hold your breath waiting for them.
Shenmue on Sega Saturn Update
Nothing new except that I'd like to give proper credit to Segadult
for being the original digitizer of the video and to Chakan of SegaFans
for being the original source of the movie. It's a cool movie, so
if you haven't seen it already, then go check it out now.
Links: Updated Links
New sites for all of you remaining Saturn fans to check out and
browse at your leisure. It surely isn't like the good old days,
but it has to be nice to know that others out there still have a
passion for this now ancient system.
|New Updates On The Way!|
I should have a bunch of updates for all of you in the coming weeks.
I haven't checked my email for this site in months and it looks like
there's a lot of new stuff in there for me to update with. I'll try
to get to it as soon as possible.
NEWSROOM: Shenmue on Sega Saturn
Here's a rather large mpeg of Shenmue running on our very own Sega Saturn. It doesn't look nearly as pretty as the versions we got on Dreamcast or Xbox, but it's not too bad for our dear system. A special thanks goes out to Charles Clout for reminding me of this and to my old pal, Colin Williamson, for allowing me to post his movie on my site.
Web Links: Updated Links
It's one of those updates that will change the world! Okay, that's a bit of a
stretch. The truth is that this update and this site doesn't really have all
that much of global importance. Regardless, you can check out the Web Links page
to find some new and corrected links.
NEWSROOM: More Segata Sanshiro Movies
Shortly after I posted the last batch of Segata Sanshiro Movies way back in February, Fabio Maiche hooked me up with a new set of MPEGs of even more of the commercials that featured Sega's now legendary hero. If you're already a fan, you will obviously want to check these out. And if you're not yet a fan, then here's your chance to become one. Enjoy!
Radiant Silvergun Sequel
I don't even know if it's an official sequel or not, but Treasure's Ikaruga for Dreamcast is more than deserving of being put in the same league as the Sega Saturn's best shooter, Radiant Silvergun. It's a damn fine 2D shooter and every bit as deep, original, creative and mind-numbingly addictive as anything that Treasure has ever released. If you're a fan of Radiant Silvergun, Treasure, or both, you should get this for Dreamcast.
Still planning on reviewing Silvergun one of these days. Maybe next April if I get around to it. But hopefully some time sooner. I just don't know if I can do this game justice.
Web Links: Brand New Links
Just watching some Jag and decided to check my Sega-Saturn.com email and found lots of requests to have new links added and old links updated. Some from way back in April. Well, as they like to say, better late than never. They are smart people, you better listen. .
My Sega Saturn Software Collection
It's not nearly as impressive as it ought to be considering that I've been covering the Sega Saturn for such a long time, but
I do have a few solid titles in my videogame collection. In all, I have about 83 games that are on my shelf right now with a
few that are in the hands of friends that borrowed them before I left Redding, CA. Anyway, just click on the link to take you to my personal website where I have a list of the games I own for the Saturn.
Web Links: New Sites Added
I've added a couple of new urls to my Web Links section, including addresses for Import Games Japan and Sega Saturn Tavern. The first site is obviously an online retail site where you can purchase import games for the Sega Saturn and other consoles and the second is a fan site dedicted to everyone's favorite console.
NEWSROOM: Segata Sanshiro Movies
At the suggestion of a good friend, co-worker and Sega fanboy extraordinaire, Anthony Chau, I've added movies of the Segata Sanshiro commercials to the Website for your viewing pleasure and historical reference. For those of you that have seen them before, I'm sure you'll love to check them out once again for old time's sake. And if this is the first time you've heard of this legendary Sega hero, you should consider yourself lucky as these movies are definitely a must-see.

The Circle of Life
My online life started with this Sega Saturn Page that was originally hosted on a personal AOL web server account before I eventually registered the sega-saturn.com domain name and started putting a little money into my little site dedicated to my favorite console and gaming company.
But, once ol' Sega of America decided to sue me because of the domain, my career path began to move away from Sega as I made the big move from being an east coast boy to a Californian, as I took a job with Working Designs. Ironically enough, WD was in a similar situation as myself in that the company was big on Sega in the past but their relationship had turned sour.
Then after a tragic event and a nervous breakdown, I made the move from Redding, CA to San Francisco, CA, as I was able to land a job doing the game journalism stuff again. But this time, for a company that was much bigger than I ever was during my fansite days, IGN.com, and for a site that was pretty much the anti-Sega, ps2.ign.com.
After two years, two months and 9 days with IGNPS2, my career path has taken me back in the direction where it started, as beginning on Monday, January 14, 2002, I'll be working for Visual Concepts, the development company that makes Sega Sports' NFL 2K and NBA 2K games.
Mailroom: New Letters and Q&A
The last month has seen my mailbox flooded with all sorts of questions and comments about the Sega
Saturn and this very webpage!
Editor's Note: Radiant Silvergun is MINE
Thanks for all the mail suggesting places to buy the game, but it turns out that none of that was needed.
For, when I was in Japan to cover TGS for IGNPS2, I was able to get a
copy of Radiant Silvergun in Akihabara for 9,800 yen thanks to Colin Williamson and David Smith. I'm a happy
Editorial: The Best Ever
Reader Jim O'Sullivan gets a little teary eyed and writes about a system that he and a lot of others
really cared about.
Mailroom: New Letters and Q&A
Just when I thought that nobody even knew that this site existed anymore, new emails started flooding
my mail box. Well, not exactly flooding, but hell, it's a lot more than zero!
Editor's Note: Radiant Silvergun
I'm still on the look out for an import boxed copy of Radiant Silvergun for the Saturn (case, instruction
manual, CD all in good condition), so if you're out there and want to sell it to me at a reasonable
price, please drop me an email!
The Mailroom is Launched
I never had a letters page when this Saturn site was in its prime and that's a damn shame. But, I've
decided to make up for this and will now begin posting my responses to your letters! That is...if I
get any new emails...

Reader Review: World Heroes Perfect
Steven B. has submitted a review for SNK's 2D fighting game, World Heroes Perfect, for our precious
Sega Saturn gaming console.
Reader Review: Fighter's History Dynamite
And if that's not enough to make you all hot for your Sega Saturn, Steven B. has also put together a
nice little review for Data East's 2D fighter.
Reader Review: The Last Bronx
James Mielke is currently one of the most influential (and best dressed) gaming editors in
the world. He's currently an editor for Electronic Gaming Monthly and Official PlayStation
Magazine, but before he made it big, he wrote a review of the import version of The Last Bronx
for this site.

Sega Game Hunt in Japan
I just got back from a trip to Japan to cover the Tokyo Game Show for IGNPS2
and as part of the non-work related portion of the trip I was able to come away with some various Sega-related
games, including some Saturn titles that I've been looking for. The two main games that I was looking
for were Radiant Silvergun (the best shooter of all-time for any system) and Soukyougurentai, but I wasn't
able to find either of them.
However, I did manage to pick up Lunar Magic School (it sucks but I'm a Lunar
fanboy to the extreme), Parodius Deluxe Pack, and Vampire Saviour for the Sega Saturn. While not Saturn stuff,
I also went ahead and bout Lunar The Silver Star and Sonic CD for the Mega CD and Gunstar Heroes,
Dynamite Headdy and Bare Knuckle III for the Mega Drive. Even though it's not a Sega-related game,
I'd also like to mention that I was able to find and pick up Dracula X for the PC Engine for 9,800 yen. It was
probably my biggest find while I was in Japan for TGS.
If I can find the time, I'll post reviews of Vampire Saviour and Parodius Deluxe Pack in the
very near future.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Dave's Sega Saturn Page is Back!
Two updates in two days, there's no way that this streak will last long, but it's been fun.
The mass majority of the old Website has been re-uploaded to the new server and just about
everything worthwhile should be okay with the only exception being the message boards. If you
see any broken images, please send me an email and I'll look
EDITOR'S NOTE: Dave's Sega Saturn Page is Back!
Nearly two years after the last update, I'm proud to announce that Dave's Sega Saturn
Page is back! While it won't likely be updated much, if at all, the page should prove
a source for information and game reviews for Sega's 32-bit console. Right now, none
of the page's links will be working, but expect that to change in the near future.
