SegaSoft Networks Inc. today announced an exclusive licensing
agreement with Activision Inc. to feature two of the top-selling
publisher's most highly anticipated titles for 1998, Battlezone and
Sin, on the HEAT Internet Game Network.
Battlezone, a first-person real-time action/strategy game based on the arcade classic, will debut exclusively on HEAT in March. Sin, a first-person action thriller driven by a darkly compelling and totally nonlinear story line, makes its exclusive entree on HEAT later this spring. SegaSoft will welcome each title with special online events, including tournaments and prize give-aways. SegaSoft and Activision will jointly promote the network and titles with a number of activities, including: -- Co-marketing events and promotions; -- Inclusion of the HEAT logo on Battlezone and Sin packaging and merchandising materials; -- Installation of a HEAT button in both software titles; and -- Bundling of HEAT materials in each box. "We are excited to welcome Activision's hot titles to HEAT," said Sarah Mason, SegaSoft vice president and general manager of HEAT. "HEAT is rapidly attaining critical mass by attracting the very best third-party developers and the most fanatical gamers anywhere online." Since its full-scale commercial launch in September 1997, HEAT (www.heat.net) has attracted more than 125,000 members and more than 50 titles from third-party developers. "HEAT is one of the hottest places to compete online," said Eric Johnson, VP, Marketing, Activision Inc. "We are excited to select HEAT as the virtual venue for Battlezone and Sin, our two biggest ticket titles for the first half of 1998." SegaSoft will herald the debut of both Activision titles on HEAT with nine series of special promotions, tournaments and online events. Details will be announced in coming weeks.
