Sega's Business Results Weighed Down by Sluggish Sales
Sega Enterprises' business results for the six months to September 30 are expected to continue to be weighed down by sluggish sales of it's game machines. Sega saw its arcade game machine business perform strongly while its game machine operation produced lackluster results, according to market analysts.

Sega is expected to post parent sales of 29 billion yen ($235 million) and parent current profits of 14 billion yen ($113 million) in 1997/98, UBS's Sugiyama said. ``Although Sega is faring well in the arcade game machine business, the profit from the operation is partly erased by losses from its home game machine operation,'' said Sugiyama.

A Sega spokesman said the company has sold a total of 7.56 million Saturns globally by the end of March since it was first launched in November 1994. The company aims to sell 1.9 million game machines globally in 1997/98.
