angus01@ibm.netGee,.. I thought I was a video game freak. I guess I was wrong. I see a lot of fellow Sega Saturn owner's getting all hyped up about a merger planned for October and a statement from someone who doesn't know anything about video games.
But, why?
Why would anyone want to waste their time thinking about possible "bad things" that could happen to the Sega Saturn's consumers when there are going to be hundreds of great things. Why waste your own energy worrying about a merger that takes place in OCTOBER when you have plenty of games coming out to play. You own a Sega Saturn because you like video games right? Not because you want to help Sega out, not because you want to combat the Playstation owner next door in a war of biased opinions and approval.
That guy from Bandai obviously doesn't know a thing about videogames. Bandai's games (crappy as they may be) have been coming out for the Playstation and Saturn, and may continue to do so after the merger. Who cares? Sega's inhouse development will most likely stick with the Saturn, and any hit titles will be Saturn exclusives for ever, or for a very long time. Who cares if Playstation get's a crappy version of Virtua Fighter 1? Who would even care if they get VF2? We have had it for a long time, I even got it for free (3free promo.) Obviously, the Sonic Team isn't going port over their NiGHTS and Sonic games, SEGA wouldn't do that, and their arcade division will continue to be a Sega system exclusive. SegaSoft for PSx/N64? Who cares. What really made me laugh is when I saw the last editorial, and the guy said to sell your system if this was going to happen. That's a riot.
The 64x? What makes anyone even think there will be a 64x? The model 3 is 32-bit, why would they make a upgrade to run model 3 software, that was 64-bit? Wouldn't that complicate the architecture more and make it more of a difficulty to port over the arcade games? In March we will hear their VF3 announcement. I recommend that until then, we stop talking about it and let Sega worry about it. I doubt they are looking for any consumer input right now, they have the upgrade finalized and are working on VF3 for the Saturn now.
Now, back to what this is really about; Video games. Stop complaining about mergers, money, this, that, and some more of that. Sega Saturn will be getting tons of great exclusive games and tons of great multi-platform games. Die Hard Arcade, Scorcher, Fighter's Megamix, Resident Evil 1 (updated version), Resident Evil 2, Tomb Raider 2, NiGHTS 2, Sonic X-treme, Manx TT Superbike, Sky Target, Virtua Stryker, Gunblade NY, Last Bronx, Virtua Fighter 3, Scud Race, Sega Touring Car Championship, Lunar:SSS, Albert Odyssey, Magic Knight Ray Earth, Grandia, Driver's Megamix?, Cyberbots, SF vs. XMEN, Darkstalkers 3, Quake, Duke Nukem 3d, Iron Storm 2, and more that I can't think of. I put money that there is a Vectorman in the works or a 2d Sonic collection in the works too. Is this list of games not enough? I don't know about you guys, but I won't have enough money all year to get half of those.
That's all I ready had to say. I was getting sort of tired about all this Sega-Bandai merger stuff. Why worry about it? Sega and Bandai have to worry about it, not us! (Unless any of you reader's work for Sega, then you would apply.)
