I'm tired of this, I quit

T027@ACADEMIC.TRUMAN.EDUI'm writing this editorial to announce that my enjoyment of video games (thanks to Sega) has hit an all time low, and I expect to give them up by next year. Over the summer I have had EXTENSIVE time to play both the PSX and N64, and with the exception of a few good games on both systems, all three systems (with the exception of a few upcoming titles) for me will end the current generation wars the way they came in: bickering, manipulating, and giving gamers a tiny wedge of the pie, when they deserve at least half. Anyone who owned a past system knows that we deserve more than this, with hits that came every week on the genesis and Super Nes. I can accept a slowdown, but has anyone looked at the game release list since March? Bernie should run for a political position, because he is a master of promising, but never delivering. So, yes, I'm upset that Sega pushed off WD, but not at all surprised. Whether or not WD was at fault, whether or not you even gave a crap about WD's games (which most hyped gamers don't), there's a larger picture here, and that is Sega of America has not done ONE thing to my knowledge that considerably helped the Saturn or Sega's reputation. How many game shows did we wait through to hear any EXCITING news?! How poor is Sega's advertising? How stupid has every one of the box cover arts been? Countless numbers of games (that were NOT all Japanese culture in a box! And so what if they were.) that were passed up by Sega of America for bombs or games of lackluster. How many times were the sports fans put on the back burner, and then when they are finally addressed, Bernie cans the system. I'm not even a sports game fan, but I feel sorry for those people that bought Saturns expecting the same drive, and power push that gave Nintendo a run for its money. How many people were conned by the 32x, shocked when they realized a Sega Saturn was coming and then got taken by that? How many multiplayer games are out there for that 50 dollar multiplayer adapter? How many times were we promised a new Sonic game, and will never see a REAL sonic sequel on the Saturn? How many times did Sega fool themselves into thinking without advertising and hype that second rate 3D games would sell on a system that was meant for 2D? If the system is good for 2D games, why didn't Sega focus in on that strength? (and I'm sorry, but it is a FACT that Saturn 3D is not on the same level as PSX. Show any PSX owner a 3D Saturn game and they will laugh at you 9/10 times.) You might say 2D doesn't sell and 3D does. But substandard 3D will sell just as bad as any 2D game. Moving on, how many sequels or upgrades did we get to classic genesis games? How many times did Sega refuse the use of a Ram cart, when they enhance Japanese Saturn games so much? How many games are one disc? How many times did Sega care about your E-mail instead of sending back an argument stating the contrary to your concern, which even a blind,one-legged, mentally retarded monkey could argue against? Who settled for third place when with a little effort might have at least achieved second? All of these questions we asked in the past year, and we never ONCE got a satisfactory answer. We got fed a spoonful of BS and waited patiently like the devoted fans we are.
Now Sega says they are coming out with the Dural or Black Belt, and I'm supposed to believe that when it comes out, this same management is going to somehow receive 2 stone tablets from Moses and suddenly reform this sin they call a company? I think not. I think we are going to get half (if we're lucky) of the games promised us by next year (you can forget Christmas), and Sega will just stick with the Dural until it's convenient to change after 2 or 3 years. JEEZ!!! This is not a car business, this is simple home entertainment, and at least you can trade in the car! I'm sorry, but I've been riding this substandard merry-go- round for too long and I want off. Now if anyone wants to tap into the dealer for a loan and place their cards on the Dural, go right ahead! Maybe I'll be wrong. But Sega of America is no more trustworthy than the contemporary stereotype of a lawyer! And I'm going to warn everyone I see when they are eyeing the Dural 2 years from now, that Sega has developed a bad habit of taking their customers for a ride. And I know a lot of people who are disappointed the Saturn is dying, and bought the 32x out of devotion to a company that they thought could at least HOLD THEIR POSITION after the 16bit wars, and will not fall for the same trick 3 times. Come off it Sega! No one owes you respect for anything. And unless you start earning the respect of the gamers and stop player poker in the back room, you are going to die out. You deserved to die out a long time ago, but the dedicated fans kept you alive. Now stop playing the incompetent child who rationalizes and become again the experienced adult leader who knows what it takes to get ahead. And for those who think that this will happen in Dural, I pray you're right, cause I don't believe any of it. I don't expect everyone to agree with this, but read over those questions and I'm sure you'll think of a few yourselves. I'm not saying go buy a PSX or N64, but if Sega had addressed any ONE of those questions and not taken a gun to one of their top EXCLUSIVE third party companies, I would not have wrote this. I can see why many people pay the extra money to get a toggle switch and N64 price games, cause you are not going to find a lot of the good ones here. Ainiku wa, komarimasu nee.... Zyaa mata.
