Sega, Don't Screw Me Over
Titan
nick@spectranet.caTo begin, let me tell you that i own a Saturn, and a Playstation. I own a Playstation because i like Tekken, Soulblade, and a few other PSX exclusives....note that they are third party games.... Now, I own a Saturn because I am a Sega fan. Right back to the Master System (now there are no limits!!!). To be perfectly honest I was totally gung-ho for a PSX. I saw Battle Arena Toshinden and, well, drooled. Compared to Virtua Fighter??? Garbage!!! Polygon breakup.... on the Saturn? This is the next generation system! It can't do that! This is a crap system!!! Well, the PSX was released, and I lusted. THEN! I saw a demo for Virtua Fighter 2. My hopes in Sega were realized!!! I could play it in the comfort of my own home!!! Needless to say, if i wanted an arcade version in my home i go to Saturn! Night Warriors! SFA2! Need i say more!
Well now that i got that out of my system, I'll say this. Saturn gamers are the hardcore gamers. We will buy tons of games for our system. The average Saturn owner has a PSX as well. The PSX caters to the average gamer, the business men who play NHL 97 for a evening, the skateboarder who thinks that good graphics mean good games! These players will buy perhaps 2-5 titles and then sell them to buy new ones! We Saturn owners collect these games!!! I have both Alphas and will buy the SF collection when it comes out! Now I will admit there are some revolutionary games on the Playstation, but compare the number of good games to the ones worth lining the kitty litter box with. The Saturn has a few yes, but not nearly as many as the Playstation. By the way, I own Three Dirty Dwarves! I liked it a lot!
Now one last thing. I work for Toys R Us, and I worked for Microplay Video games. It may not make me god in video game knowledge, but it really pushes the odds in my favor. I see the PSX and the N64 selling like hotcakes. Its depressing for me to see this but, I can't say to someone, "Don't buy that system, it's crap" because 9 times out ten they already have an idea on what to buy. However... If asked I will tell them which is my favorite system. Anyway, I can only hope that ol' WD stays with Sega. They need all the players they can get in their corner. All I can say is, I am there for you Sega, just don't screw me over.
