Hold Your Heads up High Saturn Owners

I would like to first say that this editorial is not the type to bash the other systems out there. It's a way for us Saturn owners to really appreciate what we've got and not always complain. This is sort of like....a memo.

Remember the time when you first saw the previews of the Sega Saturn a while ago. Remember when all the magazines were raving about the new hardware and just how amazed you were. Every knew this was going to be a great system. Knowing what SEGA did with the Genesis, this console was going to be a gamer's dream. Isn't that what just about everybody thought?

Then the day came. SaturnDay. All the magazines were reviewing the new SEGA system. The system that was supposed to change gaming. We wanted to hear from the magazines just how wonderful this machine was. Instead we got just the opposite. We kept hearing of inferior hardware and just and overall embarrassment as a "SEGA" launch. But did we care? No. Did we listen? No. We still kept buying the darn thing. You know why? It's because we didn't care about the hardware. We didn't care about what other people thought. We bought it for games. I know you may have heard this a thousand times already, but it seems as if we Saturn owners are forgetting it.

We had great titles that were under appreciated. The Panzer Dragoon series, Astal, the announcement of Lunar: Director's Cut, and games that just turned people's heads. Virtua Fighter 2, NiGHTS, Fighter's Megamix, Sega Rally, Virtua Cop, Daytona Championship Circuit Edition, Sonic Jam and the countless titles coming this fall.

Sure we may have been bashed as minority compared to Sony or the fact that they have a bigger installed base. Sure they may have great 3rd part support. But count how many of them are now looking at Saturn in a different way. Look at companies like Capcom, Konami, and Fox Interactive. They used to be in Sony's back pocket but now they're bringing out even better games on the Saturn and porting over their current Playstation titles. Companies like Zoom used to just love Sony, but they're now coming to the Saturn community.

So hold your heads up high. We may have been taunted, bashed and even hated. But damn it, we have the best games out there. Be proud Saturn owners, you've got one heck of a system in your hands.
