Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean
Review by: Milon
This game has taken a long time to get to the states, but
let me assure you, it was worth the wait! Albert Odyssey
is a traditional RPG without the 3D polygons or rendered
backgrounds. This game is a cross between Chrono Trigger
and Final Fantasy 1. Now let's get to the ratings!
Graphics: 90
This game has so much detail in everything, from the
shadow of clouds, smoke coming through chimneys, flickering
of fire, water flickering...the list goes on and on! No CG
work here, this is pure hand drawn heaven! The animation
is hands down the best in traditional RPG's! The
characters practically animate for everything!
Music: 85
The music is crisp and clear, and fit the scene well.
The quality is great, but the music never let me feel
"inside" the game.
Sound Effects: 90
The SE is loud and sharp. There's almost a sound effect
for every little thing! Your character has his/her war cry
for their attacks and they even moan when they die! Poor
Kia!
Interaction: 90
This game is really humorous! It even has some sexual
(PG-13) humor in it as well. The story line is what really
gets the game going, this game will keep you hooked!
Keeping track of all the Non-Playable-Characters can be
confusing at first, but fortunately WD gives a cast of
characters and their descriptions in the manual.
Challenge: 75
This game is challenging enough for all the new people
in RPG's, but for all the veterans, this game will probably
done within 20-30 hours the most.
Overall: 90
This game is great. It's been a long time since a game
like this has come to any platform. This game isn't about
fancy polygons or rendered graphics, this game is about
pure Old School RPG fun.
If you're looking for a great solid RPG or just trying to
get into the RPG genre, go get your hands on a copy of
Albert Odyssey!
