Bases Loaded '96

Review by: Jonathan Leung

Big Hurt Baseball and the World Series Baseball series have all left their mark on the Saturn. Bases Loaded: Double Header leaves the "bases loaded" with their baseball game. Bases Loaded, known for their series on Nintendo's systems, really looks sub-par compared to Big Hurt Baseball and the WSB series.

We all known how good the reviews were for World Series Baseball for Saturn. Big Hurt Baseball, although not as impressive as WSB, got more-than-decent reviews. Bases Loaded? It doesn't even belong in the same ballpark with the other baseball games. You could have more fun playing the real deal with some of your pals than playing this "game".

There are preseason, season, and championship modes in this game. There are also trades, but what about creating your own players or all-star teams? Bases Loaded has a MLBPA license so you get the real players like Hideo Nomo and Dante Bichette. However, Bases Loaded didn't get a MLB license so the official logos of the teams are missing. Worse yet, the Yankees are known as Bronx, NY. Huh?

In conclusion, don't waste your money on this game. Wait until Sega Sports releases WSB 2 or even buy the first WSB. Big Hurt Baseball is worth a rent at the very least. Bases Loaded struck out in the bottom of the ninth with the game on the line!
