Bug Too!
The follow up to one of the most under appreciated games on the Saturn has arrived with more colorful graphics, a run button, a ton of new levels and 2 new selectable characters. But can Bug Too live up the simplistic fun of the original. Graphics: 7 Anyone who has seen the original Bug knows that simple was better. Now Sega has ruined that in the sequel by adding fences, fog, buildings and other such details. The problem is, this makes bug hard to see at times and at other times you don't see him at all. Also the pop up that plagued the original is still here. On the positive side the backgrounds are beautifully done. Control: 8 Everything you need in control is here. Precise reaction time and the addition of the run button give Bug Too the victory over the original in this category. Sound: 7 The music fits the game beautifully and the voice clips are back. The only thing is the voice clips just don't have that memorable flare that the originals did. Lastability: 8 Just as hard as the first, but unlike that one once you finish a level you will never have to see it again. This makes Bug Too much less aggravating, but also much easier in the long run. Also the three selectable characters really don't add anything to the game except the two player mode. Which is a waste since you take turns doing the same level twice. I have have always found this style of two player a waste of CD Space. Funfactor: 7 The addition of the run button in this game does speed up the game, but the problem of not begin able to see bug at times is aggravating and the clutterness takes away from the cute factor of the original. ***************************************************** OVERALL: 7.4 If you loved Bug then Bug 2 is a buy for you, but if you haven't played either yet I would recommend trying the original first. Bug 1 can be found for around 20 bucks and is a great value for that price. Bug 2 for 50 is a little more of a investment BOTTOM LINE: Not a bad sequel. just not great either.
