Daytona USA

Review by: Dave Z

Daytona was easily the most anticipated first generation Saturn release, the game that people would judge the system by. The general consensus was not good for the Saturn, the resolution was a bit low, the movement was a bit choppy and there was an insane amount of pop - up. This game probably hur the Saturn more than it helped it. With that said, Daytona is by far my favorite of all of the first batch of releases. I could care less about the pop up or choppiness, this is the most intense and fun racer of all time. The game is extremely high pace, you race against upwards of forty cars, and the music is unbelievable (I know a lot of people hated it, but not me). This is one of the few games that really get your heart pounding. Personally, the action is so fast paced that I really did not notice the pop-up while I was playing, it mainly interferes with people who are watching the game and not playing. Overall, while nowhere near the arcade experience Daytona USA for the Saturn is by far the best racing experience you could get at home.
Overall: 9/10
