Die Hard Arcade
After the usual two to three month Japan to America game release lag, Sega has finally released Die Hard Arcade. While short, this game lives up to it's arcade reputation: A short but wild ride. Graphics: This is an almost flawless arcade port. While missing a few polygons here and there, the overall look of the game remains faithful to the coin-op. The characters are large, and show incredible detail. All available weapons are clearly identified and have colored boxes around them to show what can be used. In fact, almost all on-screen objects can be used as a weapon. Clocks, TV's, and oil drums are all fair game. In between each scene, a colorful interactive scene occurs where a well-timed button press can avoid a figt. Overall, the graphics are outstanding. 9.0 Sound: Typical arcade sound. Nothing special here. You have the typical grunts and screams of an arcade fighter. The music is OK. Doesn't add or detract from the game. 6.0 Gameplay:This is an arcade beat-em-up. There are many moves in this game, nearly as much as a one-o-one fighting game. In fact, half the fun of this game is seeing what move you can pull off next. One so called negative flaw of this game is it's short length. Well, it's an arcade conversion, not a console game. People in arcades don't want to spent 6 hours beating a game. This is a FAITHFUL arcade conversion and should be judged as so. If people want a longer game of this style, Three Dirty Dwarfs might fit your need. But arcade fans of this game will be satisfied with this direct conversion. Sure they could've added another level or two, but I'd rather see them spend the time working on the new NIGHTS or Sonic game.9.5 Although short, DIE Hard Arcade is a fun beat 'em up romp through a building. For a real blast, the two player option can't be beat (especially when you can hit them for damage!) If people want a challenge from this game, try beating it without gaining credits from "Deep Scan". DHA is a quick but fun game that pleases the eye and brings back the almost forgotten final-fight style of game. Overall:9.0
