Die Hard TrilogyReview by: Phil Carmalt I know what you're thinking - 3 games on one CD. It must be crap, right? WRONG! GRAPHICS : 7/10 Not bad, but I've seen a lot better. There are some cool fading effects on the first game, a fade to black/loaded type shooter. The second game, a virtua-cop clone, has rather poor graphics and the frame rate is a bit on the sluggish side. The final game, a racing around the streets of New York game, has good, speedy graphics. Nice explosions in all 3 games. SOUND : 8/10 I like the sound a lot. I'm not going to go into much detail - I'm sure you can guess the type of thing : sampled voices, dying sounds, screeching of tyres... The music suits the action quite well. CONTROL : 8/10 Control on the first game is simple enough - it's just a standard run around watch out for bad guys and shoot the hell out of them. The cop clone is actually great fun despite the shoddy graphics. There are some really fab weapons including an explosive shot gun that produces massive conflagrations. The last game is the most complex - you drive around following a radar in search of a bomb. Control using the analogue pad is great. I think the d-pad is Ok but I have only tried it once or twice. The best bits are driving over hills and hitting launch signs! FUN : 8/10 Most people seem to like the last game best and I'd probably agree with them, but the other 2 games are great fun too. I can't help but feel that if AM2 used the weapons and ideas from the second game and mixed them with Cop 2 standard graphics we'd have the ultimate cop game! The detail and animation is pretty low though. Still, it doesn't detract from the fun too much! LASTABILITY : 8/10 With 3 good games, the lastability is bound to be high. This game is a must if you have both the stunner and the analogue pad. You can probably do without the pad but, like in the Virtua Cop's, the stunner is essential for the cop-clone. I doubt you'll complete any of the games without a lot of playing, especially the first one! OVERALL : 8/10 From some of the negative reviews I'd seen I thought I might have made a mistake ordering this but it's a top game.
