Fighting Vipers

GRAPHICS: 9 OUT OF 10

I wasn't a big fan of Fighting Vipers at the arcades, my attentions were drawn more towards Tekken 2 and Virtua Fighters 2. So when I decided to check this game out I wasn't really expecting much. Let me be the first to say that this game has undergone an almost perfect transition from the arcade version to the Sega Saturn. With the exception of the plane and helicopter, (They moved in the arcade version) it is nearly flawless. Bright colors, great polygon depth, and interesting scenery make this part of the cd highly enjoyable!

Sound: 8 OUT OF 10

This CD has some nice tracks to it. I like the beats as well as the interesting sound effects it has to offer. The only complaint that I have for the sound factor of the game is the announcer. I mean, where did they come up with this voice? It sounds like the woman is suffering a serious bout of hemoroids.

PLAYABILITY: 9 OUT OF 10

Fighting Vipers offers smooth control as well as quite a few moves. Though not as many as VF2 or Tekken 2 it is still immensly enjoyable. There is also a training mode incorporated into this game that increases the fun factor by quite a bit. Other one on one combat games should look into developing something of this fashion.

OVERALL: 9 OUT OF 10

All in all this game ROCKS. I would definately recommend picking it up. If you need a little proof though, rent it first and see what you think of it. Sega definately knew what they were doing when they made this one. I give it a thumbs up. You have to feel sorry though, for everone who busted out money for the N64 (which can't even run Virtua Fighters 3 when it is released forhome entertainment systems) when they could have had such a varied selection of quality games instead of a couple.
