Guardian Heroes Review by: Jon Okulicz Stuff the story. An enchanted sword is found yadda yadda yadda. It's cheesy and it's not really important. What we have here is a side-on fighting-cum-adventure sort of game. The closest you could compare it to is a sideways scrolling fighting game like the Streets of Rage (long time, eh) series.. with multiple paths and magic. You pick between five characters and set through 30 levels (not all of them, you play about 10 depending on what path you take). The graphics for the game are a little small but they look good, and they do move well, and slowdown is pretty rare, and it's usually painless. The sound is pretty good. The voices are clear (if weird) and the music is very suited to the style. Sound FX are well done. The game's greatest point proves to be its playability. It's not bad to play in one-player mode, and it's brilliant with two players. There is also a VS mode which can be played with up to six teams (up to six people can play it with a multitap.. which i DONT have). It's fast-paced and manic. This game has a lot of staying power as well. Because there are seven different endings, it's a game you can come back to time and time again, especially for the multiplayer mode.
Graphics: 83% A good game. It combines good graphics and sound with fun gameplay and (shock! horror!) considerable lastability.
