Madden NFL '97Review by: Jonathan Leung Saturn owners have waited for a real football game for a long time. QB Attack was good, but you could only play as the offense. The only "football" game that the Saturn has was Worldwide Soccer. {If you don't know, football is soccer is Spain and other countries} Anyways, EA Sports has finally came out with Madden '97 and it's worth the wait. This game just is awesome. From the opening demo to the first game, the game catches your eye. The graphics are very good. The logos at the middle of the field really are done well, especially the Jaguars. The sound is pretty good with John Madden and Pat Summerall. The crowd is sometimes silent, but they chant "Defense!" really well. The control is good. It takes some time to figure out the passing game, but after a couple of games, it's a piece of cake. The realism is top-notch with the Edit Player option that allows you to trade, create, and release players. There is a NFL Season Mode, a Tournament Mode, and the Exhibition Mode. The Season and Tournament Mode requires 507 blocks, so you may want to use the Backup RAM Cart for this one. There are the current NFL, past Super Bowl teams, and some hidden ones like the All 70s team and so on. All the players are here, including the rookies like Kevin Hardy of the Jaguars. The stadiums are all here and the playbooks have even more plays. There are also penalties in the game like Face-Mask, which adds to the realism. Overall, Madden '97 is a good game and Saturn football fans now have a real game to play. RATING: 9.25/10 |
