FIGHTERS MEGAMiX Review by: Jonathan Leung What do you get when you combine two of the best fighting games of all-time, Virtua Fighter and Fighting Vipers? You get Fighters MegaMix, arguably the best fighting game for any system. There are 22 characters to start with, but as you go on, you can get secret characters by completing Trials in the 1P Mode. Some of the characters are very normal like Janet from Virtua Cop and some are just plain crazy like the Daytona Car. There are several Modes to choose from. The 1P Mode, as mentioned, has Trials where you take on certain groups like "Smarts Guys". There is a Survival Mode, where you face opponent after opponent in a certain time period until you die. There is the usual VS. Mode, a Team Battle Mode, and a very useful Training Mode. As you complete the game, extra options are opened up like the Hyper Mode and you can see Portraits from the Trial Mode. The graphics are almost perfect, but massive slowdown can be noticed during some parts of the game, like Raxel's Elevator Stage. The sound is very good as you can hear the sound of the body just crunching against the cage as a result of a punch, kick, throw, etc. The control is top notch as you can easily execute moves like Jeffrey's Front Backbreaker. The replay value is there as you can get secret characters and the Team Battle Mode is always fun. Overall, this game is one of the best out on the Saturn market. Where else can you play as a cop, car, a Mexican bean, two Sonic characters, a swordsman, a palm tree, and my personal favorite, a piece of meat? The game is so crazy, it's good! 9.7/10
