FIGHTERS MEGAMiX

Review by: David Everly

Fighters Megamix was released at my local Best Buy for $52.99. It may now be available everywhere else now. But anyways, I rushed to my local Best Buy and picked it up. Was it really worth it? Does it stand up to all the hype? Read on and find out.

Graphics: 9.8 out of 10

The graphics are superb in this game. Sure, itıs not VF2 resolution but the light sourcing and gourad-shading do a great deal to make it up. I read the characters were blocky, mainly Akira and Sarah. This is totally not true. All the characters looks smooth, there are a few with a few chunky spots but itıs still good looking. Dural, what AM2 did with her was incredible! They actually made the suroundings reflect off here body. Not like the Dural in VF3 but you can see the color on here, the grass and the sky reflect with the colors. Backgrounds in VERY high-res. The ground is sharper than Tekken 3 in the arcades! The background is sharp too. Wait till you see Sibaıs background. The sun has a wavey look to it. Also the walls and cages have been re-done and they look alot better with less clipping than ever.

The CG intro is not spectacular but itıs cools. Akira and Bahn fight it out to lead up to the cover of FMM. The Virtua Fighter footage is actually preview videoıs for Virtua Fighter 3 seen at past video game conventions. Ohh yes, I must mention the smoothness of the game. ShunDi has a move where he spins around while wacking his opponent while almost falling the whole time. The way they do it makes you feel like your there. It just so smooth. Toshinden 3 canıt even match this, even graphically. Come to think of it, nothing can except arcade games. Also, the hair and bandanaıs have their own movements, falling with their head, very cool.

Control: 10 out of 10

What else can I say, itıs an AM2 game, PERFECT!

Sound: 9.5

There is lots of music on this CD (42 songs!). Each sound great, it has ALL Fighting Vipers and ALL Virtua Fighter 2 music. It even has Sarahıs and Duralıs VF1 music (Cause it has the stages on it). It also has music for Sonic Fighterıs, original music, the ³Daytona Rolling Start² remix, and more! Sound, the sounds are strait from Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Cop2, Fighting Vipers, Sonic Fighters, etc. So the sound samples are ok.

Funfactor: 10 out of 10

There are TONS of secrets to this game. So many FMM owners in Japan still havenıt got them all! Many features such as: Survival Mode, Training Mode, Team Mode, Game Modes, and others. Each features their own features which hold their own. Options are all here, everytrhing needed is in this games. Get it!

Negatives are still here. They only effect the game slightly. Slowdown accures only in Raxelıs stage, and a few accations when your fighting. The other negative was that I wish I could play a normal game instead of just tracks but thats about it for negatives.

Total: 9.9

Final comments:

If you own FV and/or VF2 I still recommend this game. It has enough in it to make it original and very fun! So take my word and get it!
