FIGHTERS MEGAMiX

Review by: Glen Miller

_VERY COOL INDEED_

I prepurchased my copy of Megamix at my local Electronics Boutique, it sells for 69.99 Canadian dollars and I got a cool T-Shirt with it too.

Graphics (9/10):
----------------
WOW. I didn't think any of the home systems could do this. This game really shows off the Saturn's capabilities.

As stated many times before this review, the graphics are a lower resolution than what VF2 has, and it does show, especially on a few of the VFs. However, the color palette is huge, the backgrounds are beautiful and the animation FLIES.

There is some slow down, it may only happen for a second or two, but it is noticeable...and there is a little polygon break-up....but who cares?

The opening intro is wonderful too. Completely rendered, many of the characters look life-like. Watch this as soon as you get your game.

Sound (10/10):
--------------
The soundtrack is the best I've heard. The music is great for every level that I've been to. When you knock a fighter into a fence, it really sounds good....especially when you keep them there knocking them around (heheh).

Gameplay (10/10):
-----------------
What can be said? This is an AM2 game! The control is flawless, and the ability to move left and right using the top buttons on the controller was a great idea...it adds new depth to the game as there is now "a way out".

Replay (10/10):
---------------
You'll be on this game for hours, especially if you have a friend who loves these types of fighting games. Finding all the hidden characters is a nice addition for solo play.

Overall Score (9.75/10)
-----------------------
If you didn't like VF2, I still urge you to give this a try as the game is much faster.

I think the game's finest quality however, is how it is geared to so many different age groups. The game is easy and it can be finished using only one or two moves (great for kids), but still adds the complexity of many additional moves for more experienced players.
