Review by Alex Tomic A lot of people are trying (hoping rather,) to make out Nights as a 'Mario Killer'. I think that Nights is almost as good as Mario is many aspects, but i believe that there are aspects in which Nights is better than Mario64 (what a shock!). Not very many people agree with me on this, but I hated the control in Mario64, and when I first played Nights, I was not mesmorized with the excellent graphics, but rather with the simply amazing control. While you might be thinking if I'm emphasizing the control, then the graphics must be bad, right? Well, not so. Nights is at a slightly lower resolution than VF2 or Decathlete, but it is texture mapped beautifully, and Sega did a good job with the backgrounds because they seem to be a part of the foreground, (hard to explain, but if you play it you'll notice it too). The music is absolutely amazing. It stands out from the moment you pick it up...Mario64 on the other hand, I can't even remember if there was any music! (was there?). Ratings Graphics 9.0 / 10 They are good, but could be cleaner and a bit too much pop-up (which you only notice when you are watching someone else play) Sound 10 / 10 As I said, the music is just perfect for this game. The game sounds are good too. Gameplay 11 / 10 I have never played a game where I was so impressed with the gameplay that I just flyed around for 10 minutes because of how nice it is to use (analog pad of course) Lasting Power 8.5 /10 You'd figure that they would make this game a bit longer, but it still is fun to play 2 player. Overall 9.5/10 If this game were a bit cleaner and was a bit longer, I would consider it better than Mario64. |
