Panzer Dragoon Zwei
Last Thursday my Panzer Dragoon Zwei came in the mail, but is it worth the $40 on ebay? It is a great game but wait for the hype to die down. I got mine for $8 along with Virtua Fighter Kids from Amazon in January 2003. Since it is no longer Saturn's time, I will review graphics and sound based on the console. Graphics 9.5/10: They look great. Your dragon is pretty polygonal. Some textures look pretty pixelated, but this is a game not a new Star Wars movie (the new ones suck, but have great effects). The bad guys are big and distinguishable from far away. The best part is the berserker attacks. The graphics immerse you and hold you until the end. Audio 9.5/10: Having never played the original, I had never heard the "better" music. I think the level music is not the best, but really good. The sound is crisp and clear. It fits the theme well. I took off 0.5 points, because everyone says the first is so much better, and I don't want to give off a false idea. Gameplay 10/10: This is a rail shooter, and I am not asking it to be something it isn't. I've heard some gripe about it being on rails and that makes it bad. You can't take down a game because you don't like it's genre. This is a great shooter and one of my favorite games. Control 9.5/10: My only complaint is that when those few enemies start circling you, you can lose them in your finger tapping. The lock down is great and so is the berserker attacks. Button placement is very easy and logical. I used my regular controller on most of this, but that is up to you. I am yet to get a mission stick and try that out. Overall 9/10: This is my favorite rail shooter. It is kind of short with only 7 levels. In my first 2 hours I had beaten it, and I was not a previous veteran of the game. For $10 or maybe $15 get it, especially if you don't have too much free time. It has great replay value with the multiple paths. Also, after each level your dragon morphs slightly depending on how you played. I'd get it if I were you.
