Review by Dave Z
Rayman is without a doubt the best platformer available for any of
the 32 bit consoles. It offers all of the visual force found in Astal,
but with twice the difficulty, length and play mechanics. The animation
in Rayman is brilliant, and the backgrounds are pure beauty, and feature
many layers of parallax and splendid animation. The play mechanics, in
Rayman, are the best found in any of the 32 bit platformers, so far, and
the control is top notch. Rayman features many long and diverse levels,
which you have to go back to when you learn new techniques, which gives
you hours upon hours of enjoyment. The bosses, while not really impressive,
are very good. The music in Rayman is as equally breathtaking as the graphics.
Lets just say that I am very impressed with UBI Soft's first Saturn release
and am eagerly awaiting the sequel.
Overall: 9/10
