Riglord Saga
One of the first batch of RPGs on the saturn, this game gave gamers a peek at what the Saturn can do . The game gives a new feel to the RPG genre besides redefining Shining Force's gameplay . The 3-D polygon graphics gives a sense of realisme and depth . You can see the rope bridges shaking and waters running unlike the traditional RPGs .When you attack, the camera zooms in to give you a better view and zooms out when planning your moves . You can control the camera and even look from the character's point of view . Another innovation found in this game is that your charaters gain more powerful moves with practice, not when he raises a level . Also found are some new moves like shrinking your opponent and throwing them . Most importantly, how does this game fare compared to the other 32-bit RPGs? I think that it is better than Magic Knight Rayearth and it is definitely superior to Arc the Lad which can be beaten in 6 hours! Graphics 9.5/10 The 3-D polygons are really impressive and look almost as good as Virtua Fighter 2 . The characters move very realisticly and the moves and spells look very powerful . The piledrivers are very impressive . Sound 4/10 The game does not fare that well in the sound department . There are only a couple of tracks and they get boring after a few hours of play . However the music is rich and very appropriate, setting the right mood . The bad thing about this game is the speech . The characters keep quite throughout the whole game with only text for conversing . Come on Micro Cabin, how about digitized speech and battle cries for the sequel? Gameplay 7/10 Standard fare . If you've played Shining Force, you'll definitely feel right at home .
Replay value 6/10
RPGs do not really have much replay value . This game is worth a second try,
if you don't have any new games to play .
