Terrific game! As a big fan of the series, I expected this title to be good but with the current quality of games, I was also a little "gun shy".

When you first turn on this game, you can't help but notice that the Shining the Holy Ark folks were involved in this project. This is a strategy RPG with an emphasis on the RPG. It is done in all polygons and shows that the Saturn can hold it's own in this area. The characters are a little blurred but the towns and battle fields are right on the money. You have many camera angles at your disposal and you can zoom in and out depending on your taste.

Like Shining Force 2, this game has a lot of RPG elements. You have to talk to the town folks and search around to get out into the battles. This makes the game infinitely more enjoyable. If you have played the other games in this series, you will have no problem with the menus. They are identical and easy to use

The battle scenes are some of the best I have ever seen, period. In my opinion, they are on par with anything out there including FF7. They are one on one struggles with lots of action, color, and excitement.

In summary, I would give this game a overall 9.5 and highly recommend it to anyone that likes strategy RPGs. The old winners (Vandal Hearts, Terra Phantastica) have been replaced with a game that shows that there's nothing wrong with the hardware when in the right hands.
