Skull Fang
Skull fang from Data east is a direct port of a vertical scrolling arcade shooter that hit the Arcades of Japan a while back. Die hard shooter fans may find Skull Fang to be a worthy addition to their shooter collection! 1.GRAPHICS: Before I begin I have one major gripe regarding the graphics of this game. my gripe is 'Why the heck isn't the action displayed FULL SCREEN, I mean come on, I'm sure with a little bit more programming code Data East could have made this game Full Screen instead of slapping us with letterbox on both the left and right side of the screen. Other than that and a few slow-down issues You'll pretty much enjoy the graphics and action contained in this pretty cool shooter.. the graphics aren't anything to write home about, just standard overhead shooter graphics here, but what you see looks pretty nice nonetheless. the Graphics get a rating of "7" in my opinion.. 2. MUSIC/SOUND EFX: My favorite part of a game is usually the BGM and this game does indeed have some pretty decent Music. It's basically techno-Rock that sometimes tries too hard to be great but fails in the process. The music is pretty standard stuff and the Sound effects are nothing exciting.. the Music is Redbook audio so you'll have no problem listening to it on your Audio CD Player..Music gets a "7.5" rating.. 3. CONTROLS: Your ship controls quite well when you've collected enough speed-up power ups but on it's own you'll struggle to maneuver the blasted thing. just pick the fastest ship and you'll have no major problems with the control and speed of your ship.. 4. GAMEPLAY: Skull Fang has great gameplay and should appeal to most shooter fans out there, you only get a very limited amount of continues and the challenge of the game is just right despite the 4th boss who seems almost too difficult to destroy. but with Two-Player simultaneous action you and a friend should have a pleasant time blasting through the game!! Gameplay gets a rating of '8' 5. REPLAY VALUE: This game has pretty moderate replay value so after playing through it will all the different ships and pilots I doubt most will want to blast though it again but some will..Replay Value gets a '6' rating.. 6. OVERALL: Overall a Good game nonetheless, Not Great and definitely not worth the $65-$75 asking price of most import titles. I was fortunate enough to purchase a brand new copy for only $29 at 'Game Cave' during their blow-out special..Overall I give the game a rating of '7.5'
