Sonic R

Review by: Raptor 023

Okay, so this is not the 3D sonic game everyone was hoping for. But respecting it as a game it's pretty good. Just is not worth 50.00. Here's the bottom line

Graphics. 8.5

The graphics are fantastic for this game, they run smooth, and even in one level there is an actual transparencies where you can see through the track. But with that said the polygons are sharp, way to sharp to look any good and also the race courses that fade in really suck. This problem leads to memorization of the course, because you'll be bumping all over the track.

Sound. 7.0

The game music is pretty good standing out by itself. But the music has no way of fitting into the theme. The best ones are probably, the hidden track, and the first one. The award for the worst has to be track 4, "Work it out, work it out, talk about it." Sad isn't it. The sound effects do nothing to help as I find them re-used Sonic effects. I also found that the CD keeps making that annoying Tails copter sound whenever I played.

Control. 9.5

Okay, the control is really good, the reason why you keep crashing is because of the bad effects so don't go break your controller. Everything is basic and in no time flat you will be running like a speed demon.

Overall. 5.0

This game is overall bad, while you will play this game a lot, you wonder what happened to the relay race, more tracks, and secret characters who don't cheat. If you feel that you beat a racing game when all the tracks are gold, this is not a good buy. But if you have patience with the tough secret characters go for just don't expect it to last long.

(Side Note) I feel Sega is doing a bad job with this license, and am sorry to say it but Sonic has been put to rest because a company won't give him a super Sonic game.
