Steep Slope Sliders
Steep Slope Sliders=Top Skater. I hope you don't think I'm crazy, but com'n if you're looking for a Saturn version of Top Skater look no further. It is just even more fun than Top Skater. The object of SSS is exactly like Top Skater. Race the tracks doing tricks and racing the clock. SSS has tracks specially designed for racing, doing tricks, or both. I've played Cool Boarders 2 and I think SSS is way better. While SSS is up to the graphical might of CB2 it's gameplay is way better. GRAPHICS: The graphics are okay nothing to rave over. The graphics are a little blocky. There is minimal pop-up during the gameplay. Sometimes when you a wall pop-up occurs. The fans, trees, and grass are 2-D. Others objects like houses, cars, and ramps are 3-D. There is also a replay and an option to save your best runs. The backgrounds are a marvel to look at. If you look closely you can hot air balloons and a big dog head. The graphical detail is also very good. Like how much snow you shred by the way you move you boarder. SOUND/MUSIC: While there are a variety of sound effects some are a little muffled. There are sounds for you shredding snow, hitting cars, trees, and walls. The music is techno, rock, and music with lyrics, ugh. The music made me nauseous and gave me a headache. There is an option for shutting off the music and random. There are 8 music tracks. Before playing they let you choose a music track from the eight. GAMEPLAY/CONTROL: The gameplay is rocks! The are 4 regular snowboarders and about 7 secret ones. There are 7 regular tracks to snowboard on and 4 hidden ones. The funniest playing with a friend trying to outdo each other in a time race or tricks race or just trying to beat your old scores. While the gameplay is very solid there should have been more options. You can't race against cpu and there is no 2 player split screen. What they should have done is this. Have a grand prix mode to race against cpu drones, time attack for racing against the clock and a tricks mode where you race the tracks doing tricks with the time on or off. After having all of this put in a 2-player split screen. Even though they don't include any of this the gameplay is very fun and addicting. The control is tight. There are buttons for holding your board, and flips and 360, 720, and 1020. And when you hit something and get stuck simply use the left or right shift buttons to turn and you're ready to snowboard again. Although using left or right shift button won't get you out when you're stuck. REPLAY: Tons of it. With 11 snowboarders and 11 tracks this won't get old for quite sometime. With its addicting gameplay and control this is a game that quickly becomes a title you won't regret buying. If you wondered why Sega would translate an unknown game like SSS all I gotta tell is you gotta play it and all questions will be answered. My biggest complaint about the game is its goofy, funny, and very laughable title. RECOMMENDATION:If you're were looking for a game like Top Skater or Cool Boarders 2 for the SS buy it now. I've decided to try Next-Generation's star system for a little while to try out. This is Next-Generation's rating system not mine.
